Another of Africa’s species specifically adapted for an environment where competition for food can be quite fierce. Standing up to 17 ft tall, the giraffe is able to feed on the leaves of trees’ higher limbs inaccessible to other herbivores. The ability to deliver bone-crunching kicks both forwards and backwards make the giraffe a dangerous prey item, even for the most highly-skilled lion prides.
